How Scentsy wax is made
Have you ever wondered what it takes to bring a new Scentsy Bar fragrance to life? From product development and design to manufacturing and marketing, each Scentsy Bar takes a winding, elaborate, exciting journey to find its way to your home in the UK. There's so much goes into creating the perfect fragrances for our customers.
We look at what’s trending and up-and-coming in the industry. We consider seasonal preferences, and we analyse our current fragrance offerings to find any gaps that need filling, Scentsy design fragrances using the perfect mix of art and science, head and heart.
Each Scentsy Wax Bar is composed of a high-quality paraffin wax blend, dye and fragrance oil. Our fragrances are layered and delightfully complex, so each oil blend contains 30 to 60 natural and synthetic ingredients to create a fragrance scent pyramid. Often, the ingredients are totally unexpected, you don’t necessarily need strawberry to create a strawberry scent experience for example, and some fragrances need several rounds of testing and tweaking to get them just right.
Scentsy look into the Colour; before you even open a Scentsy Bar, there are clues to what you’ll experience when the wax warms in your home. We don’t just enjoy a fragrance with our nose, we also smell “in colour!” Scentsy Bars wax is dyed to elevate the fragrance experience, and choosing the perfect Pantone colour is part of the design process.
Each Pattern is well thought out; each Scentsy Bar label features a unique pattern and wax-coordinating colour to hint at the fragrance waiting inside the clamshell. The fragrance pattern isn’t necessarily a direct interpretation of the scent’s notes, but rather its overall character.
The name; Each fragrance also needs an evocative name and description that includes the most prominent scent notes to use on packaging, in catalogue and online to help express the character of a fragrance, especially when you’re unable to shop in person and try before you buy, this makes buying Scentsy products online much easier!
Then there’s the manufacturing; Colour creation, Colour testing, Filling and cooling and onto the final stage: Scentsy Bars are quality checked, labelled, boxed and sent to the warehouse to await delivery to be sent all the way to the UK for you to purchase.
I'm sure you will agree our Scentsy Bars are simply the best. We love fragrance, especially because we understand its power to bring people together, enliven ordinary moments and make us smile. So, for all the fragrance oil we pack into each Scentsy Bar to make it last, you can trust that there is even more thought, expertise and a whole lot of love in every single bar. Our fragrances are created and developed to be an industry leading product.
How Scentsy Warmers are made
Many of our new warmer styles are featured in the Scentsy catalogue with a “How it’s made” callout that highlights unique materials or the innovative techniques our artisans use to create each one. These details help express the quality and craftsmanship of our warmers and why they’re the best out there.
Here's how Scentsy Warmers are really brought to life, more than a year before a Scentsy Warmer is available to buy, our product development team looks at what’s trending in the home décor industry, plus any up-and-coming styles. We consider product and style seasonality, so you always have something new to display each holiday or season. And we take a look at our current line, especially the bestsellers, to build upon the trends Scentsy fans already adore, and to add more variety or introduce an innovative new manufacturing technique.
Our in-house designers dream up new warmers based on our market research and analysis, create detailed drawings and partner with our expert craftsmen to create real-world samples. Together, designers and craftsmen perfect each design, from shape and color down to the actual materials used, to make every warmer special.
Once the samples are finalized, our forecasters determine how many we need to make to meet customer demand, then hundreds, sometimes thousands of talented hands get to work. Most of our original designs are crafted of ceramic or porcelain. Using methods passed down from generation to generation, our craftsmen take actual stones and refine them into clay, pour that clay into handcrafted molds and, step by step, form something beautiful and unique — to our in-house designers’ exact specifications.
Once a warmer is molded, it’s fired in a kiln. Then glaze, hand-painted accents, decals, stencils or a combination of finishes are applied before firing the warmer again. The process takes an incredible amount of precision, skill and heat, plus a steady, delicate touch. Over the years we have unveiled exciting new designs, warmer types and finishes to offer even more selection and style. Now, we partner with artisans around the world to create warmer designs from high-quality materials like ceramic, glass and metal, all lovingly handcrafted and meticulously checked to meet our impeccable standards. Our creative team brainstorms unique, memorable names for each new warmer, writes thoughtful descriptions to highlight its features and style. Each warmer design is accompanied by unique packaging that not only protects the product, but also hints at what’s inside. Our warmer boxes feature various patterns and colors to match the style or season and the warmer name. We store product safely and, once an order is processed, ship it as quickly as we can, each warmer creation is a long winded process to create for our customers, not to mention they make a long journey to get to your home in the UK from where they are created. There's so much thought, and design into each Scentsy product.
